Leila Rivard is a career change educator with over 29 years of experience in teaching, learning, and curriculum development. After spending 17 years in Business and Industry, Leila returned to school in 1990 and completed her undergraduate studies in English/Social Studies at the University of Michigan-Flint in 1991. She completed her first Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 1994, and her second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1997 both at Eastern Michigan University. Leila rounded out her education by obtaining her Education Specialist Degree in Leadership and Counseling in 2009 at EMU. Leila has spent the past 25 years as the Curriculum Coordinator for Mott Middle/Early College H.S. located in Flint, Michigan. She provided training to at the national level to teachers in the nationally acclaimed CUNY Center for Media and Learning American Social History Project, curriculum development in all disciplines and classroom management strategies and techniques. Leila, based on her vast professional training over the years, believes that no learning can take place without building a significant relationship with the learner.
